WATER CONSERVATION IS A MILPITAS WAY OF LIFE!

Make sure to follow the City’s water waste restrictions and take easy actions to reduce your water use indoors and outdoors.

In April 2023, the City reduced water use by 9% compared to 2019 usage and 6% compared to 2020 usage.

Cumulatively, from July 2022 to April 2023, the City has reduced water use by 13% compared with July 2020 to April 2021.

Mandatory 4-Day Watering Schedule

To reduce water use the City has implemented a 4-day outdoor watering schedule for irrigation of any plants, lawns, and other landscaping.

All residents and businesses must follow the watering schedule by address. Watering is only allowed from 6 pm to 9 am.

When can I water my yard?

Milpitas is currently enforcing a 4-day watering schedule, as set by Chapter VI of the City’s Municipal Code. All residents and businesses must follow the watering schedule below, determined by address number:

  • Address ending in Odd number: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday
  • Address ending in Even number: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Sunday
  • No street address: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday

Please note that watering is only allowed between the hours of 6 pm and 9 am. Watering is not allowed within 48 hours of measurable rainfall.
